A Model Island

Cheating the worst of the weather I have finished installing a model for a ‘white-island-in-a-dark-pool’ just outside the café door for Brodick Castle’s Art Exhibition.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt’s not a scale model of the artwork I want to make when I return in the spring, more a medley of ideas using materials I have explored over the past weeks; the ‘island’ is barytes rather than granite. During my stay I have variously tilted, sunk and inverted my ‘island’ ideas, here I selected a positive outcome; the stone is rising – as if growing – up through the water. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAs long as the gales don’t force the castle’s closure, I’m looking forward to meeting some of the other artists showing their work here.
